I have struggled with trying to protect my own reputation. Several times when the Lord has told me to confess my faults to someone it ended up in a big wresteling match with my will. I become afraid of what that person will think of me and what confessing this sin will do to my future. Usually the verse that the Lord uses to get me to surrender to His will is Matthew 16:25, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." After I surrender the ownership of my future and my reputation back to the Lord and do what He has asked, He works out the mess I have made for His glory and for my good.
